Make Daiquiri Day Perfect with a GE Ice Maker
Nothing hits the spot on a hot summer day quite like an ice-cold daiquiri. National Daiquiri Day gives you the perfect opportunity to invite all your friends over for a boozy backyard bash (as if you needed an excuse)!
On July 19th, get out your shaker and pick up a bottle of your favorite rum to celebrate Havana’s finest sweet and summery cocktail. Keep the party going with a GE Ice Maker — both GE Ice Maker models can produce over 48 pounds of ice per day and have indoor and outdoor capabilities, so they can follow the party anywhere. Try out our favorite daiquiri recipes below, and make your Daquiri Day a celebration to remember.
Classic Daiquiri
Keep it simple with this time-tested favorite that balances sweet and citrus with your favorite spirits. You’ll need:
• 2 oz – light rum
• ¾ oz – freshly squeezed, strained lime juice
• ¾ oz – Demerara sugar syrup or simple syrup
Simply combine your ingredients with ice in a tumbler and shake until your drink is nice and cold, then strain it into a coupe glass. Garnish with a twist of lime and your cocktail is ready to enjoy!
Strawberry Daiquiri
A slightly sweeter take on the classic daiquiri adds some fruity flair into the mix. You’ll need:
• ¾ cup – rum
• 4 oz – frozen strawberries
• 1/8 cup – lime juice
• ½ cup – lemon juice
• ¼ cup – lemon-lime soda
• ½ cup – sugar
• Optional – fresh strawberries
Combine 6 cups of ice with sugar and strawberries, then blend until you’ve eliminated any strawberry chunks. Add the lemon, lime, rum, and soda, then blend it all together until it’s smooth. Garnish with a sugary rim or fresh strawberry and serve.
Coffee Raspberry Daiquiri
This sophisticated mix of sweet, sour, and rich coffee is perfect as a party cocktail or classy digestif. You’ll need:
• 6 oz – coffee-infused rum
• 2 oz – orange liqueur
• 1 cup – fresh raspberries
• ½ tsp – cocoa powder
• 1/3 tsp – simple syrup or sugar
Blend all your ingredients together until the concoction is rich and smooth. Strain out the raspberry seeds, and transfer into a tumbler. Shake until chilled, then serve. Garnish with lime or fresh raspberry, and add soda water for an extra refreshing chill.
White Rye Daiquiri
If rum isn’t quite your speed, give this all-American remix of the classic daiquiri a try. You’ll need:
• 3 oz – white rye whisky
• ¼ oz – orange liqueur
• ¾ oz – lime juice
• ¼ oz – simple syrup
Combine the whisky, liqueur, lime juice, and syrup in a shaker, and shake with ice until the drink is completely chilled. Strain and serve on the rocks.
Watermelon Daiquiri Pops
A delicious treat that’ll remind you of childhood summers — with a grown-up twist! You’ll need:
• 6 tbsp – light rum
• 1 lb – seedless watermelon, without the rind
• ¼ cup – lime juice
• 2 tsp – sugar or simple syrup
Puree watermelon slices in a blender, then add rum, sugar, and lime juice. Pour it all into popsicle molds and freeze for at least 4 hours. If you want boozier popsicles, keep in mind that they’ll take longer to freeze. Once the pops are frozen through, remove from the molds and serve with a bit of lime zest for garnish.
